Week Four Original Post #2

http://www.conradaskland.com/blog/2006/10/seussical-the-musical-set-and-costume-photos/

That link is of pictures of types of makeups for seussical the mussical. I was in seussical here at H.L.T. and I know that the hair and makeup for this show is absoulutly crazy. Many of the characters are farfetched and funny so that makes the makeup very crazy. I think makeup will play a huge part in this play because I think it will make people look more chinese or make them look meaner or scarier. I think that this play will use much makeup and I hope it looks great.

Week Four Original post #1

After seeing the two plays that we have attended I think that if we were to leave out any one of the technical portions of the play it would not make the play the same. Take lighting for an example, when we went to see STOMP sometimes it would look like the whole set changed when absoulutly nothing moved and just the lights changed from a green to a red. The same with Peter Pan it looked like they were sourounded by stars when they were really they were only sourounded by some christmas lights stuck in a balck canvas. I think they are coming together in our play but, I do not think they are at there full potential. Once we incorparate all of these things I think that the show will be ten times better and there will be more visual towards the audience.

Response to Larissa's original post #3 week 3

Larrissa, I think all three of the videos you posted are very helpful in learning about lighting. I also wrote my blog about lighting. I think we can both learn from each others blogs and I encourage you to take a look at my blog. I think your post is very detailed and I think you have found reliable videos. I love reading all of your post. I feel like you put alot of time and effort in to them. Thank you for the resource that your post gave.

response to Marie's original post #3 week 3

Marie, I think thatyour link on this blog is very helpful. I also agree that theater make-up is very useful in presenting someones character and/or helping the show out. I definetly agree that theater make-up is much different than normal make-up. over all, Ithink this is a great post with a helpful link thank you.

Week 3 Original Post #3

I thought Peter Pan was very well done. It was much better than I would have thought it to be and I think the fly system was very appropriate and looked good. Some of the actors I would have replaced but overall it was a good show. I would replace Peter for a different (younger) actor if I was the director, but the actor who played did do a very good job. I thiink the lighting on the show was nice and so was the sound. I think it was not as good as STOMP but it was very good overall.

Week Three Original post #2

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stage_lighting
This is a valuable resource from Wikipedia that describes the lighting in a theater. It did help me better understand how all the lighting works on a show. I think if I decide to pursue lighting in the theater this website will definetly help and is somewhat of a preview of what I will learn if I decide to pursue lighting in the theater. I think this website may help the production of mulan because I have learned about different types of lighting and how to make a show look better through lighting.

Week Three Original post #1

Set day was very fun. I love the technical side of the theater just as much as the performing side. I think the children working on set will help us appreciate how much time and effort goes into making a set and it will let us expercience a side of the theater that we may not have ever before. I would be very excited to learn more about the technical side of the theater. I look foward to working on set in the future.

Response to Cassady's post: Week 2 #3

Cassady, I really did love how they drifted to an off-beat and then met again in the same beat and how the dynamics were sharp and crisp. I agree with you when you say that they looked very silly at some times and they did not even care. they put it all out on the stage and I respect that. I also want to thank the chaperones for letting us attend this. It was an amazing experience.

Response to Larissa's post: Week 2 #3

Larissa, I agree with you completely about your reaction to stomp. I think that you were right when you sad every character was unique. No two character were ever doing the same thing. I loved it to. I also thought it was cool to meet the performers because their character was not nessacerily the same as their personality.

Week Two Original post #3

I absoulutly loved STOMP I thought it was an amazing show. I thought it was very creative as far as using household devices to make awesome beats and rythems. The only thing that I think can be changed is that it should have somewhat of a story and should have an intermission. Meeting the performers was very interesting becaause they live really normal lives and do almost the same stuff as us daily.I think I can apply to Mulan that you do not have to have lines to have character and that somebody can be funny without saying a single word.

Week Two Original post #2

http://www.cyberessays.com/Arts/5.htm
This website is a very good website because it explains all the history of Greek theater. The only thing I would critic about it is that it is very much just a page of words. There is no design to the sight and it is not appealing to the eye. This would turn away any readers looking for pictures or graphics. Greek theater is much like Kabuki except that Kabuki involves many forms of traditions and Greek is very modern and does not. I would have to say that I like Greek theater more.

Week Two Original post #1

The web URL I found is:
http://www.artelino.com/articles/kabuki_theater.asp
This website is very informative towards the history and origin of Kabuki sytled theater. I would also love the oppurtunity to see a Kabuki styled Japanese show. Kabuki is not different than what I thought because I have a previous knowledge on Kabuki.

Response to Duray's post #1

Duray, I definetly have to agree with you on the nerves. I was also very nervous and jittery. I think that auditions went very well and that you did an awesome job. I think we are both happy with our parts and I hope that we both can have many laughs over the next few weeks. I look foward to spending this summer working with you.

Response to Kia's post #1

Week One Original post #3

http://www.colorq.org/Articles/article.aspx?d=2000&x=realMulan
This website is a very informed website it explains where Mulan lives, her surname, and her personality. This person's site describes Mulan as a bold woman not weak like Disney's interpratation. Also, In this version she fought the Hu not the Huns. Overall Disney's interpratation Is very different from this one and I encourage you to take a look at this website.

Week One Original post #2

http://www.theatrehistory.com/american/musicals.html
This website is a site full of many different synopsises of plays. I think this website would be very valuable to a director or a producer. It made me think about all the different styles of plays and the different syles of music, dance, and acting. It also made me appreciate how much time and effort must go into making these plays what they are today.

Week One Original post #1

Hello, my name Is Austin Westergom and I feel that this year this cast will have a wonderful experience and that we will all learn a lot in the next five weeks. I think there will be lots of laughs this year and in the end we will put on an amazing show. Some auditions do make me nervous especially when I am going for a part that I really like. I am very nervous going into this audition, the most I have ever been. I have been on stage many times before and I have worked with Mrs.Lindsey and Mrs.Laura many times before on different productions. I think that this will be an amazing experience and that everyone will work together to create something amazing.
